From March 26 to 31, 2026, state inspectors and research staff carried out a spring wildlife census within the territory of the reserve. The survey was also attended by S. Loyan, Chief Specialist of the Almaty Regional Territorial Inspection of Forestry and Wildlife.
In the early morning hours, before sunrise, groups of 10–15 red deer were recorded in each gorge.
On the well-lit southern slopes, groups of 9–15 roe deer were observed, as well as separately grazing individuals numbering 4–5 animals.
During the observations, tracks of one lynx were identified.
Snow leopard tracks were recorded on three out of the five census routes.
Among the birds, four bearded vultures and ten golden eagles were recorded and observed with binoculars.
During the census, 10–12× binoculars, camera traps, and a drone were used. The population of wild animals was determined using the visual observation method.
The census was carried out along five routes with a total length of about 30 kilometers.
The wildlife census activities were completed successfully.
